You can never quite exhaust all the wonderful sights that Budapest has to offer. From great natural geographical formations to historical sites, a tour to Budapest is likely to a tightly packed sight-seeing event.

It is in Budapest that you meet river Danube at its best, a river which is actually one kilometer wide at some point. Now if you, like me, know of your local town stream as the greatest moving water body, you will surely marvel at river Danube, which actually has a port built on it!

Whatever the timing of your visit to Budapest, a visit to its Boating Lake cum Ice ring is surely something you won’t want to miss out on. During the summer months of May to September, you can take a boat ride here. It is a particularly romantic experience if you happen to be with your loved one during the trip. It is a memory you will always cherish. But come to the lake in the colder months (October to February) and you won’t believe it is the same place, for it will have turned into a hard ice rink. You can hire skates here, and get to walk on a lake!

Another great sight you won’t want to miss in Budapest is its Zoo, where you get to see rare species of animals and plants. Even before you get to watch its contents, the zoo itself is a great nineteenth century architectural masterpiece, and one the very first zoos in Europe.

Your tour of Budapest won’t be complete without a visit to the city’s castle district, where you get to see buildings dating back to the Middle Ages. It is here too, that you can visit some of the numerous museums located here, and walk down the history lane.

And if you want to see the world famous tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then the place to be is Budapest’s heroes’ square, which also teems with museums and other relics of the past.

If you get tired by the hustle and bustle of the city, Budapest will console you by inviting you to visit its scenic Margitsziget, a serene green zone of the town. Traffic is not allowed here, and you can have a moment to commune with your soul here.
